The 'Young Voices' project is our thought-provoking project working with young people of ages 11-18 through Schools and Youth Groups to create devised pieces of theatre, with an aim of the piece to give young people a voice they wouldn't have otherwise.

Who can apply?
Any secondary school or youth group within the boroughs of Kingston-Upon-Thames, Merton or Wandsworth can apply. We are ideally looking for a group of between 10 and 20 children per project between the ages of 11 and 18 years. We have no regulations on the selection of children for the show, it is completely up to the school or youth group on who they feel would benefit from the project.
Our Aim
Our ultimate aim with this project is to give young people the opportunity to experience the arts that they wouldn't have otherwise, whether this may be down to financial situations, household issues or lack of opportunity. Not only do we want more young people to have access to the arts, but also give more and more teenagers a voice, who wouldn't have it otherwise.

Application Process
To apply please fill in the application form. The more information you can provide us the better. We regret to say that sadly not all applications will be successful due to the volume of applications. We do encourage you to apply again however if you have been unsuccessful previously for future dates.

Once your application is received we then may contact you for further information or for discussions of the practicalities of your facilities etc. We aim to give you an answer whether your application has been successful or not within 4 weeks off applying.

Cost?
The cost of the project depends on the number of children taking part and the facilities available on school sites. For example, if the school has their own theatre then we won't have to hire out a private theatre, hence bringing the costs down. However, we want no one to miss out on this project so we have a number of subsidised places on the project and are currently in the process of applying for funding to help cover costs.
The Productions
All the productions in the 'Young Voices' Theatre Project are either semi-devised or devised by the cast. The first set of rehearsals we will focus on coming up with ideas for the piece based around a stimulus or theme, and then the script will be written from these rehearsals. The remainder of the rehearsals will then be putting the show together. We aim to run between 1 to 2 rehearsals per week. However this will increase nearer the show dates. Publicity of the show will be discussed upon successful applications.

All shows will be performed either on school premises or at a local theatre. This will be discussed upon application.
