Agency | South Side Theatre

South Side Agency represents child actors and young performers. The agency is open to both Weekly Academy and Private students. We are a registered Child & Young Performers Agency, affiliated with Spotlight Casting Agency.

Agency students are given exclusive access to Spotlight auditions for both stage and screen, including West End castings, commercials and movies! All current South Side students, over the age of 5 are eligible to join South Side's Agency through spotlight. Spaces are offered on an invite only basis. Once invited to join the agency, you will be given an application form to complete.

Students will need to provide a professional headshot for their Spotlight page. Group headshot sessions will run throughout the year for all agency students. Students can upload up to 15 professional photographs to their spotlight profile. We would recommend contrasting photographs. You will also have the opportunity to upload a showreel. Our team of agents will be able to advise and guide you through this.

Alongside being a part of the agency, students will have access to exclusive workshops throughout the year, including screen workshops, audition technique and how to film a showreel.

How Does the Agency Work?

Weekly Academy and Private Tuition students are invited to be a part of the agency by a member of the South Side team, with full details shared with parents/carers.
Once registered with the agency you will be required to set up your spotlight profile. We will guide you through this process.
When set-up our team of agents (Toby & Dannika) will submit you for appropriate castings based on casting breakdowns detailing exact requirements of ability and talents, physical type (particularly if they are casting a family), sometimes height restrictions, and a clear character synopsis for the role they are casting and they will hope to match as near as possible with someone who naturally resembles that character.
Students may then be invited to self-tape or an audition. This can be at very short notice. Students can book in 1-2-1 tuition sessions to help with these if needed.
Students may be invited to send further self-tapes or to more audition rounds. These can be multiple!
Students may then be offered a role.

Dannika Dudfield

Agent

Dannika is a 2020 graduate from Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) in Guildford where she graduated with a BA(Hons) in Performance in Musical Theatre. She also has an extended diploma in dance and is currently studying towards gaining a level 3 child psychology diploma.

Dannika has extensive agency experience, having ran the agency for Presto Performing Arts for multiple years, alongside performing herself, and running audition, screen and self-tape workshops.

Dannika has featured in Law&Order:UK and James Morrison's music video ‘Lonely People’ ft.iLL Blu, as well as appearing in many other exciting projects. Whilst in training, Dannika played Linda Lou in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, as well as being dance captain on the production. She also featured as part of the

Dannika is our lead agent at South Side, submitting students for castings and offering advice with showreels and auditions.

Toby Ward-Smith

Artistic Director & Founder

Toby trained at the Guildford School of Acting, following gaining a distinction in Performing Arts Teaching from the Performance Arts Awards. Toby is the first port of call for all things South Side. He has extensively performed in and around South West London, including Bugsy Malone (New Wimbledon Theatre), In the Heights (Stockwell Playhouse) and It Snows (Orange Tree Theatre). Alongside performing Toby has worked in Children's theatre for numerous years, starting out as a Class Assistant in the Children's Theatre Club at the Lantern Arts Centre, before leading their Easter Holiday Projects. He then went on to be the Assistant Director of the Young Company at the Churchill Theatre Bromley. And has directed various productions locally too.

Toby believes that theatre should be accessible for everyone, which is why he launched South Side Theatre Academy with an aim to run all-inclusive, professional drama classes and productions for all young people. He is the first point of contact should you have any questions or enquires.
