This weekend 23 of our incredible South Siders from the age of 9 to 17 headed on a coach all the way to Birmingham for the Junior Theatre Festival with Musical Theatre International!
On Friday 20th May we packed our bags, got on the coach and headed to our hotel in Birmingham, before an overnight stay, and an early wake-up as we headed for the International Convention Centre for 8am!
Throughout an incredible day, our amazing young performers experienced the wide wealth of Musical Theatre. The day started with them all smashing their 10-minue extract from 'Oliver JR' with some incredible feedback from 3 industry professionals. Watch the performance below!
Following adjudication, it was New Works Showcase time, as we saw highlights of 2 new Broadway Junior shows and a sneak peak at 'The Book Thief' musical!
We then headed to our afternoon workshops, with 3 amazing workshops in dancing, singing and acting, before the day finished with an epic awards ceremony, featuring an electric performance from West End leading lady, Rachel John and performances from our very own Artistic Director, Toby, and the All Stars, including Carrie and Izzy, who were selected following adjudication!
Come 7pm, it was time to head back home. All tired, but still running on adrenaline. A little musical theatre quiz on the coach home, was just what we needed to end an unforgettable weekend!
We cannot wait to return next year!
