Junior Theatre Festival 22nd-23rd May 2026
We are so excited to confirm that we will be returning to the Junior Theatre Festival next year! Booking is now open to join us at JTF 2026.
To sign up for our 2026 trip please complete the below form. You can also see our 2025 trip information pack so get an idea of what the trip is like and re-download the trip letter. There are also a few FAQs below too.
Here's are some snaps from our 2024 trip to the Junior Theatre Festival where we performed Matilda the Musical JR, winning 'Achievement in Ensemble'!
We will meet at 4:45pm on Friday 22nd May 2025, with the coach departing shortly after, with us arriving into Birmingham around 8:30pm traffic dependent.
The Festival then runs from 8:30am-7pm on the Saturday, before we get back onto the coach at 7:15pm, returning around 10pm.
We take 6 chaperones on the trip each year, which typically always includes 2 members of the South Side team and 4 further chaperones. With a ratio of approximately 1:7/8 students.
Sadly this is a trip only for the students. However we do hold a performance in the final rehearsal for you to come and watch and also share the recording from the actual festival with you too.
A comprehensive risk assessment has been carried out for this residential trip, and an appropriate insurance policy is in place. These are shared with all staff attending and will be fully implemented throughout the trip.
The hotel and its staff have been fully briefed on our safeguarding expectations. This includes enhanced monitoring such as 24/7 supervision of entrances and exits, as well as the use of CCTV.
All accompanying adults hold an enhanced DBS check, and there will always be at least one qualified first aider present. In addition, Toby will be acting as the designated safeguarding lead for the duration of the trip.
Each student will be placed in a small group with a designated group leader. Leaders will regularly check in with their groups to monitor wellbeing and location. Students will not be permitted to go anywhere alone and will always be expected to remain in pairs or groups.
Students are also giving regular safety briefings throughout the trip.
All the rehearsals will take place at our studios on the following dates:
• Wednesday 8th April (All Day) or Wednesday 15th April (All Day) - dependent on application form replies on which date we go for
• Wednesday 22nd April, 5-8pm
• Wednesday 29th April, 5-8pm
• Wednesday 6th May, 5-8pm
• Wednesday 13th May, 5-8pm
• Wednesday 20th May, 5-8pm
Our morning kicks off with a huge launch event in the main auditorium where over 1,500 young people united from their love of musical theatre from around Europe and the US come together!
This is then followed by adjudication where we perform a 15 minute extract from a Broadway JR show, we also watch all the other groups.
This takes us up to lunch, which is then followed by the 'New Works Showcase' where we get a glimpse at two new Broadway Junior shows about to be released and also watch a Q&A and performance with a West End star.
The afternoon sees us take part in 3 workshops: acting, singing and dancing with industry professionals.
And finally the day culminates in an epic awards ceremony featuring the teachers dance, a dance from the All-stars, awards and an amazing West End star performs a concert for us.
JTF is always over subscribed every year, which means we have to factor in a variety of factors when allocating places, which include:
- First come, first serve
- Rehearsal availability
- Age group and gender rooming requirements
Once booking is closed we will be in touch to confirm your place on the trip.
