Outstanding Stage

Experiences For Your Students

At South Side Theatre Academy we run a range of School Workshops. Below you can find a list of all the workshops we run for both Primary and Secondary pupils, these can all be tailored around the topics you are working on in class or other themes upon request. Primary

It's All About the Characters

Our Characterization workshop looks at loads of fun and creative ways to create a character on stage, from creating an evil villain to creating a character your studying in class. Culminating in the Children creating their own scenes using their favourite characters.

 

(6-11 Yr Olds, 1-2 hours workshop)

A Roald Dahl Adventure 

Using some of Roald Dahl's classic books we will bring his magical stories to life. We'll visit the Chocolate Factory and then jump inside a Giant Peach. Throughout the workshop we will look at some of the amazing characters, the brilliant scripts and even create our own Roald Dahl movie stage sequels. These workshops can be altered to any author or book. 

 

(4-11 Yr Olds, 1-2 hours workshop)

Play in a Day

Throughout this workshop you'll have the opportunity to tell, create and perform your own play. Working throughout the day the children will choose a story, create a set, come up with characters and rehearse their show ready for a performance if you wish at the end of the day to friends, family and the school. 

 

(6-11 Yr Olds, All Day workshop)

Acting for Fun

Acting for Fun aims to make sure the children are able to just enjoy and express themselves performing. Throughout the workshop we will look at a range of drama exercises including characterization, improv, comedy, script-work and even some hilariously fun drama games. This workshop can be easily adapted to follow a school topic from class or a theme.  

 

(4-11 Yr Olds, 1-2 hours workshop)

Secondary

Improv Station

Our improvisation workshop looks at a range of ways of creating theatre from scratch, whether it may be from using a stimulus to creating something out of nothing. This hilarious and fast-paced workshop is a great for developing confidence and communication skills. 

 

(11-18 Yr Olds, 1-2 hours workshop)

Young Voices Project

The 'Young Voices Project' works with young people of ages 11-18 through Schools and Youth Groups to create devised pieces of theatre, with an aim of the piece to give young people a voice they wouldn't have otherwise. This thought-provoking project really helps developing confidence, social and performance skills. We specifically recommend this project for anyone from a socially disadvantaged background or has any special-educational needs. Read more about it here.

 

(11-18 Yr Olds, Multiple formats - all day workshops or a weekly workshop)

A View to Directing

Are your young people interested in learning how to direct theatre or film or just interested in diving into theatre but not quite sure they want to act? Our directing skills workshop looks at how to take a script and bring it to life on stage along with how to lead and direct a cast and crew. 

 

(11-18 Yr Olds, Multiple formats - one-off workshop, all day workshop or a weekly workshop)

All our workshops can be specifically tailored or altered upon request, whether it may be to base it upon the topic you're studying in class, a key theme or a message you want to get across, it's all easily altered.
