What COVID-19 Guidelines will be in place?
We have worked closely with our safeguarding officer and Public Health England to ensure our classes can be as safe as they can possibly be upon return. These include one way systems, regular hand-washing, cleaning regimes, reduced class sizes and sanitizing, social distancing where possible and many more. I was booked onto 'Play in a Day' in April, do I need to re-book?
You won't need to rebook, however you are required to send us an email confirming your place. We have emailed everyone who was booked onto the original dates in April with details of their new class times and how to confirm their place. If you can't find your email please do check your spam.
What shall I wear?
Please ensure you wear clothes that are easy to move in. We do ask you to wear no flip flops, crocs or wheeled shoes.
I have never done drama before, can I still join in?
Of course you can! This class is open to all ability levels, and the days will be broken down to allow everyone to get involved!
How old do I have to be to join?
The South Side 'Play in a Day' is open to everyone between the ages of 4 and 15 years old. 'Play in a Day' is then split into 3 days, with a different age group each day.
Will I need to wear a mask?
You won't need to wear a mask in the class. You can wear one if you wish, but government advice is they're not required within classes.
Do I need to bring my own lunch, drinks and snacks?
You will need to bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks. Please ensure all water bottles are labelled. Due to COVID guidelines, we're unable to provide your son/daughter with any food or drink. We do request you refrain from sending your son/daughter with any foods containing nuts.
Do I need to book a place for each of my children?
You will need to book a place for each of your children. Please feel free to put both of their details on the same booking form. You can book your place here.
How much does Play in a Day cost?
'Play in a Day' is completely free! We believe all young people should have access to theatre, so are running 'Play in a Day' completely free. You can book your place here.
What will we do throughout the day?
Throughout the day you will work with our amazing South Side team to devise a short play to be performed at the end of the day. We will play drama games, explore a specific theme and have plenty of fun!
Will there be breaks?
Yes, there will be breaks throughout the day for you to grab a drink or snack.
What time does the day run from?
The South Side 'West End Summer Academy' runs from 9am-5pm.
Where will Play in a Day take place?
Play in a Day will take place in the theatre at Hook Church, Brook Road, Surbiton, KT6 5DB.
Will my friends and family be able to watch the shows?
We will be recording all the shows and sharing them with parents following the day, so you get to enjoy the entire performance from home!
